Rather uniquely, the flowers used in all the HerbFarmacy products are still planted, nurtured and picked by hand on site. (Find out more by reading my post following my visit here.) To make the hand-poured balm products you see above, they're then dried and steeped in oil before being strained and mixed with waxes or emollients. What could have become an automated and functional process is still conducted with care, love and attention - which is why these little pots of balm are so special. Each one of the HerbFarmacy balms is packed full of hardworking, natural, British grown ingredients that will supercharge your regime and boost the effectiveness of other products. Although there are lots of different ones to choose from, my three personal picks include something for beauty, something for body and something for bad times. Together they offer a 100% natural way to care for yourself - and those that you love too.
Mallow Beauty Balm (£18.00)
Definitely the iconic product for those familiar with the brand, this deeply moisturising balm helps to hydrate, soften and protect the skin thanks to the addition of Marshmallow, Mullein, Jojoba and Shea Butter. Not only can it be used as an overnight treatment, face mask and morning boost, but it works beautifully as a pre-bedtime cleanse too. It may feel odd applying balm to your skin, but a little warmed between the fingers is all you need for a non-greasy and truly effective facial treat. Think of it as an alternative to facial oils and you're on the right track.
Skin Rescue Balm (£15.00)
A versatile solution to most skin issues, this is particularly beneficial in relieving the symptoms of eczema, skin irritation, redness and chaffing. It features soothing ingredients including Calendula, Chickweed, Marshamallow, Chamomile and Lavender to leave skin feeling repaired, without irritation. I recently suffered a period of incredible soreness on my leg that actually made it painful to walk; after trying every body cream within my reportoire, I swapped in a tub of this and it was healed completely within days. This is a firm favourite with Josh for treating flare ups of eczema, whilst it's even mild enough to use on little people.
Meadowsweet Muscle Balm (£15.00)
If you need something to ease tension, relieve aching muscles and soothe joints, then the Meadowsweet Muscle Balm is definitely for you. With Comfrey to soothe, Hypericum to ease tension and Meadowsweet oils to relieve tired sore muscles, this gently warming and soothing rub is brilliant at encouraging your troubles to slip away. Essential oils including Eucalyptus, Pepper and Ginger work to invigorate and revive, providing an uplifting experience that's welcome after a long day. Use a little to massage into hands, feet, legs or shoulders and you'll feel so much better - plus your skin will feel incredibly hydrated and supple too.
