Are These The Juicy Tubes Of 2016? Introducing NEW Lancome Juicy Shakers #BanTheBoring

Do you remember the original Juicy Tubes that we all went crazy for about ten years ago? I can recall a rather enthusiastic trip to Selfridges to get my hands on my very own, even though it pained me to spend a near fortune on a lipgloss when I was barely making rent every month. There was something a little bit mystical about those little tubes of sweet scented gloss, that inspired us to have a little bit more fun with our makeup than we may have been having already. A flurry of copycats inevitably followed, but the interesting thing for me was how they managed to turn a simple gloss into something altogether more exciting. Skip forward a decade and Lancome are (literally) shaking things up again with the launch of their new Juicy Shakers which, alongside their strapline of #BanTheBoring, aim to reinvigorate the lip category a little and encourage us once again to be playful with our lip products.

A lipgloss-tint hybrid, these little bottles include a bi-phased formula that pairs nourishing lip oils (sweet almond, omega 3 and cranberry oil) with beautiful colour pigments for natural looking, glossy lips. The two sections do separate if left to settle, so you do need to shake the bottle like a mini cocktail to mix them back into one colour rich formula - hence the name! Each of the bottles features a conical foam applicator which is incredibly soft and moulds to the shape of lips to ensure a super comfortable and precise application; these slip back into the centre of the bottle to absorb a little more product via three small holes in the base. The whole experience is light, bouncy and a bit cheeky, which is refreshing from a brand that can sometimes be incredibly serious; for the first time in years this is a product that will appeal to the younger end of the market as much as the older, ensuring it’s something that can transcend generations.

Available in thirteen shades (as well as a limited edition teal called ‘Mint To Be’) the foam applicator absorbs just the right dose of pigment to provide a tint to the lips. I’m surprised at how sheer some of the shades are, but equally as impressed to see others offer up a rich colour result. Thanks to a non-sticky and non-drying formula, these are treats that can be worn all day long and topped up on the go - without the worry that your lips will be left feeling and looking parched. Some of the shades do feature shimmering elements, but when they’re dispersed and applied to lips the result is incredibly subtle; this is definitely not a product that will overload your pout with glitter like it’s 1999! I’m currently loving this orange shade for spring, especially thanks to the juiciness it provides without lots of accompanying stickiness. If you fancy a little splurge or just need to shake up your own lip collection, it’s definitely worth checking these out the next time you’re shopping.

Can you remember the original Juicy Tubes? Do these new Juicy Shakers float your boat?

  6. They look really cute but I'm not so sure about the price tag... it's a lot for a lip gloss or is it just me?!

  7. I remember juicy tubes! Not a huge fan of lipgloss so didn't really like them. The applicators of this range remind me of loreals new matte range which doesn't really work. Good to see some of the shades have build able colour!

    1. The new L'Oreal matte sculpting lip thingies? I LOVE them! I use them multiple times a week for a matte non-drying colour. You can also apply over a little balm if you don't like the texture.

  8. These look so gorgeous. I absolutely love the idea behind these, they're so fun and quirky. The packaging is definitely a winner for me here! But more importantly the product itself does sound so lovely and nourishing, I really want to try these xo

  9. I've never been a lipgloss fan, and definitely don't recall the original (though that may be because I was only eleven!). However, I absolutely love the look of these! The shades look gorgeous and I bet they would look great over the top of a matte lipstick to achieve a budge-proof, but luscious look xx

  13. I love the sound of these and will definitely be trying them out. I have to admit, while I had my fair share of the original Juicy Tubes, I wasn't a fan of the stickiness of them.
