NEW Code Beautiful Lash Primer Undercoat: Introducing CODE FFL (Forget Fake Lashes)

Lash primers, undercoats and fibres are not a new concept; they were first launched into the market over a decade ago, before false lashes and extensions were as common place as a plumping lipgloss. Back then it was brands including L'Oreal and Bourjois who were changing the way we applied our mascara, but as the years have passed we seem to have forgotten about the power a base coat can provide.... But it's making a comeback! First it was Estee Lauder with their Little Black Primer, then it was L'Oreal with their Superstar Mascara, and now it's cult beauty favourite Code Beautiful and their FFL (Forget Fake Lashes) formula. Plumped lashes in a jiffy without the need for messy glue? I'm in...

Created for ladies with super short, sparse lashes or for those who want the fake lash look but in a natural, beautiful way, this pre-mascara lash plumper provides a base and helps create length and volume instantly. The fibre-based product is light brown in tone, meaning you won't struggle to cover the white bits often left behind by other brands; you simply brush it on to bare lashes, wait a second or two and then apply your usual mascara. The result is lifted lashes that are much longer, more volumised and well separated; the picture below shows the result of only one coat of Code FFL and mascara (left) vs just one coat of mascara (right). The result is initially subtle, but the more mascara you apply the better and more delightful the result.

The formula also contains hydrating, conditioning and softening agents to care for lashes while preventing flaking, so you're sure to look fabulous in the long-term too. I've been using this for a number of weeks and I'm really liking the results; it's definitely comparable to Estee Lauder's Little Black Primer, although the length provided is definitely better with Code FFL. Although they recommend you use it with their own mascara for best results, I've used this under at least five different mascaras and it works just as well with all of them. It's like a little boost in a tube! This won't replace your false lashes, but if your natural lash line is sparse or short it will definitely help create a more uniform result and enviable flutter.

Are you a fan of lash undercoats? Would you be tempted to give this a go?

The Code Beautiful 'Code FFL' is available to buy now, priced £18.00.

  5. Oooo this sounds like such a great product! I've tried something similar in the past, however that was white, and like you've said it can be annoying to try and cover the white residue! Lovely review x
