Embrace The Power Of Blue: New YSL 'Shocking' Liners In This Season's Must-Have Shade

If there's one colour we should be embracing on the first day of June, it's a slick of something bold and blue. Gone are the days when this tone was seen as old-fashioned and reserved for our Nans reportoire (leftover from the power blue palettes of the 70's;) this shade is now the epitome of modernity and high fashion, especially since it was seen all over the couture catwalks and has definitely started to filter down onto the high street. Yves Saint Laurent are definitely embracing this trend as part of their summer collection, launching two new shades of their fabulous 'Shocking' felt-tip liner that will ensure your holiday look is right on-trend. The precise tip, pigmented formula and bold tones make this duo perfect for creating cat flicks with a twist.

So many felt-tip liners have relatively blunt edges which make creating understated and delicate flicks tricky; however, these feature a super long and incredibly precise tip which make it much easier to create a look that's subtle. Because the tones are so strong and striking, it's best to keep the size and depth of your flicks on the smaller size - unless you want to go 'high fashion' and create a catwalk-ready finish! I adore both of the shades (Majorelle Blue and Deep Green,) the bold blue working to bring out the colour of my eyes, while the teal green works perfectly with a touch of green eyeshadow on the lid. These look incredible when the rest of your look is kept minimal and are perfectly suited to the beach; they last a long time without budging, although they're not water resistant so I'd avoid applying them if you're planning on splashing around in the water!

Will you be embracing the power of blue this summer season?

The YSL 'Shocking' Felt-Tip Eyeliner is available now in both black and these two new shades, priced £25.50.

  1. This is such a pretty shade and you suit it so much, don't think it would suit my eyes though!

    1. There are loads of blues popping up that are much more affordable - or just use an eyeshadow wet to create your own blue liner!

  8. I love both these colours which are perfect for my skintone, the blue looks lovely on you and they do sound a little easier to use than some eyeliners so I might just give one a go.

    1. They're much easier than a lot of the ones I've tried which have really chunky tips. If it's something you'd invest in, it's definitely worth a go : )

  10. My Mum has always been a fan of blue eyeliner, but she only uses pencil. I've been seeing blue eyeliner everywhere recently, and I'm so so tempted to try it! I think I'll borrow hers first before investing in something pricey like YSL but these shades do look gorgeous.
