Estee Lauder Little Black Primer: The Product You Never Knew You Needed

Finding a great mascara is like finding the holy grail of beauty, but what if there was a tool that could make every mascara 100% more effective at creating long and luscious lashes? Estee Lauder's new Little Black Primer has been launched to meet the needs of the modern woman, providing a fabulous lash line in seconds while working with any one of the current mascaras within your repertoire. The Little Black Primer can be used in three ways (to tint, amplify or set lashes) and is as easy to apply as your existing products. Although I wasn't too sure initially what this could offer my lashes, it works brilliantly well to create a lash line with tonnes of impact.

The primer can be used alone to tint lashes for a natural understated look, underneath mascara to amplify lash length while boosting the performance of the other product, or over the top of mascara to set lashes for a water-resistant and flake-proof finish. Its three functions ensure this is one product you never knew you needed, helping to create a lashline that before now I've only ever been able to create with individual lash extensions. (That's testament to it's performance!)

Although I wouldn't use this alone (the result is very subtle and doesn't provide any visible length or volume,) it's somewhat amazing when used beneath my usual mascaras; it helps to create a base on which the product can cling to, building up a result that's longer and fuller than without the primer. If you remember the double-ended mascaras of some years ago, that would load your lashes with white fibres which would help create length, this is a zooped-up version fit for the woman of 2015 with no flaking or annoying white specks to cover.

I wouldn't necessarily use this every day, but after using it to create a really powerful lash line with tonnes of volume on Saturday night, it's become a firm favourite for weekends. The lightweight formula doesn't overload lashes or cause clumping, but simply makes it easy to apply mascara over the top and ensure the result is flutter worthy. Like a traditional primer, it's hard to understand what benefit such a product can bring until you've tried and tested it yourself - but suffice to say it's definitely something to splurge on come payday.

The Estee Lauder Little Black Primer is available now in Boots stores and Boots.com priced £20.00.

  6. Interesting idea, though for someone an indecisive as me it would only add to my dilemma over which product to use! Would definitely like to try it under some of my favourite mascaras :) xx

  7. I love the concept. I'm not sure I'd wear it everyday either, but for special occasions it sounds great!

  8. I'm not sure I'd want to spend £20 on something that doesn't really do a lot on it's own. I feel like I'd rather buy a mascara that does what I want if that makes sense :) xx
