Trend Alert: Face Mists & Beauty Elixirs (Spritz Away The Blues)

Gentle hydrating sprays have been a beauty secret of many for years, lingering under the radar and developing hardcore fans thanks to Caudalie's cult classic. Inspired by an 'elixir of youth' used by Queen Isabelle of Hungary many decades ago, the Caudalie Beauty Elixir (£11.50) claims to smooth features, tighten pores and give the complexion a burst of radiance - in only a few sprays. Not only is it a great base for moisturisers and makeup, but it helps to revive the skin throughout the day and reawaken your makeup to leave it looking fresh. It's a desk essential and a product that works brilliantly in summer, even if it's just the revitalising scent that lifts the spirits and cools away the stresses of London's humid public transport system. However, this concept seems to be gaining pace once again and re-imagined in various formats - including these new refreshing mists from Melvita and L'Occitane.

L'Occitane's Hydra Vital Face Mist (£12.00) instantly hydrates and refreshes skin, making it perfect for travelling and great for applying after a long-haul flight. The inclusion of Angelica, an astonishing plant with an exceptional capacity of self-hydration, ensures as much moisture is delivered as possible without you looking like you've dipped your face in a bucket. Similarly, Melvita's Organic Rose Beauty Mist (£10.00) is enriched with antioxidant Wild Rose fruit to bring freshness and comfort to the skin, while helping prevent the signs of ageing. Rose water hydrates the skin whilst Cynorrhodon Fruit helps to protect, making it a great all-round product that's perfect to pop in your bag; the addition of rose ensures it smells delightful.

These face mists and elixirs may be a new concept to get your head around initially, but once you start using them they become an essential summer handbag addition. They can not only lift the senses, hydrate the skin and provide relief from hot and humid weather, but they can also help to refresh makeup and ensure it looks like it's only just been applied - perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up that will just be our little secret. I love them for many reasons, but as the weather gets a little warmer (and the public transport system feels like you're in the Australian outback,) they're more than just another beauty product.

Would you be tempted to add one to your routine and carry one in your bag?

How do they effect eye makeup if you are using them throughout the day?

    1. They don't. It's a super light mist so there's not enough water to make makeup run... Unless you apply too much!

  2. I would love to add this to my routine - actually I thought of buying one but could not decide which one I should buy. Now I'll try Caudalie Beauty Elixir - this really caught my eye! btw I love your blog. :D

  3. I love L'Occitane products and their face mist sounds fab - might have to give it a try! Great post :) x

  4. I really have to get into using the Beauty Elixer i have it just hasn't been used all that much

  5. I love face mists, and my two very favorite ones are the Queen of Hungary Mist by Omorovicza and Caudalie's Grape Water (surprisingly, I didn't like the Beauty Elixir - it had too many fragrant plant oils in it for me, which I think broke me out a bit). I love the Omorovicza one because it smells amazing and feels really luxurious in its pretty glass bottle. Although I've never tried it because I'm not a big foundation wearer, its also a really good one for touching up makeup (Amelia Liana raved about it on her channel for this purpose). Caudalie's Grape Water is more of a no-fuss, cooling summer essential. Something about shaking this up and spraying it out of its aerosol can is so satisfying. The bottle also stays nice and cool so I find myself holding it up to my forehead if ever I'm feeling a little too hot in my room. I don't think it would bother any sensitive skins, either, because it basically has one or two ingredients and it doesn't contain any fragrance (to my knowledge).
