The 'chips' themselves can be chosen from stores like 'pick n mix' - you simply choose the scents that appeal and fill your little box with your own combination of scents and effects, as well as picking your own Scentchip burner from which to melt them. You can either fill your box (available in small, medium or large sizes with corresponding costs,) with one scent or pick a combination that allows you to continually create unique fragrances and different atmospheres within your home. With everything from fruity citrus scents, to delicate florals, musty woody notes and even aromatherapy oils, there's always going to be something for everybody.
Once you get your new collection of Scentchips home, all you do is choose a couple of chips and pop them on top of the burner. A tea light is all that's needed to gradually melt the chips and release the scent, providing hours of fragrance that can actually fill more than just the room it's in. I love the fact you can develop your own combinations and fill your home with a bespoke scent, as well as testing different combinations and changing the 'ingredients' until you're set on something you love. Candles are great, but they're so one dimensional; Scentchips make discovery and experience the focus point.
These are so simple to use, remove a lot of the faff that often comes with oil burners, and allow you to create something that's unique to you. The chips also last for ages and can be re-melted if you don't use the whole thing - two or three chips lasts the length of time it takes for about four tealights to burn, so definitely great value for money. I love these and will definitely be stocking up on chips when I see them in health food and gift shops soon, especially as they make thoughtful and unique gifts for loved ones - there's even a festive scent collection perfect for Christmas!
Scentchips are available from Holland & Barrett and prices start from £3.95 for a small box of chips.
