The new collection includes a giant bronzer, unsual blush colour, orange glossy lipsticks, bright jewel coloured eyeliners and even a shimmering body oil to boot. Firstly, I adore the packaging of the compacts and couldn't wait to get the shimmery top open; inside is a marbled effect baked powder that is highly pigmented and super soft to the touch. The Essential Bronzer (£16.90) is a bit too much if applied alone, so I've found it's great when applied delicately all over the place to create a natural tanned result - if you buff it into the skin it gives a natural boost to the complexion and has you looking like you've just popped back from Marbella.
The Sun Lover's (£14.90) blush combines the benefit of a bronzer, blush and highlighter in one, giving skin a natural flush with a subtle touch of light. Although it may seem strange to have a touch of turquoise in the pan, this actually creates a natural radiant finish on the skin. All three colours can be applied separately and built-up using an angled brush, or mixed together and applied using a big fluffy powder brush for a more natural and 'flushed' finish. This is great for those of us that don't know how to go from delicate spring blushers, to more powerful summer bronzers - you simply play with the ratio of the colours and gradually phase out of one season and into the next.
Orange lips are super hot for summer once again, so if you haven't already got an army of tangy lip products waiting in the wings then these could be a great starting point. Lighter than a lipstick, with the touch of shine you get from a gloss, the Exotic Shine Lipstick (£8.50) is fab for bringing out a tan. Although you do need super smooth lips for this to look great (try a lip scrub to remove any dead skin or imperfections,) the result is a powerful colour that really packs a punch. There are two orange shades to choose from, with the brighter orange being more suited to darker skintones and the red orange being best for paler complexions, so you can ensure you're bringing your look together with ease.
It's always great to see a fun brand pushing boundaries and launching collections that aren't necessarily everyones cup of tea. Makeup is supposed to be fun, experimental and about making the most of ourselves; right now there aren't many others doing that quite as well as Kiko Cosmetics. Are you a fan of the brand? Are you tempted to try something different this season?
All the products featured are available online and via Kiko Cosmetics boutiques in the UK.
