Although I'm not a fan of neon colours or super bright polishes, these are actually quite wearable. The yellow, green and orange shades are a slightly different texture to the two pinks, being harder to apply and a little gloopy. It's more difficult to get a flawless finish, as the polish wants to stick to itself and inevitably causes a patchy effect, but once two or three layers are applied it's hardly visible. The two pinks on the other hand, are a delight to apply and are much more like the Models Own formula we've come to expect.
Every summer we're told that corals and orange hues are great for showing off a golden glow, so it's no surprise Models Own have included two variants within this collection which would really make a tan pop. The pink shade is also a classic for summer, being more on the side of bubblegum than an understated dusty shade, which you can't go wrong with applying. However, the neon yellow and orange are definitely for those on the beaches of Marbella or the shop floors of Topshop - they're not colours for the fainthearted!
The polishes have a somewhat matte effect, not being super shiny or leaving a glossy finish, but I think this helps enhance the brightness of the hue and enables it to work well with a golden glow. These are definitely an either 'love it or loathe it' collection, which I can see being popular with the Ibiza crowd and not so much with my spa weekend set; however, it's great to see Models Own continually pushing the boundaries and creating innovative collections of colour that simply can't be matched by others.
Polish For Tans is available online at modelsownit.com from April 9th, in Superdrug from April 9th and in Boots from April 16th. All polishes priced £5.00.
