There's only so much shampoo and conditioner a girl can have, and only so many innovations that can claim to make your barnet shinier than ever, but still the launches keep on coming. For me, the secret to an ultimate hair product is one that I can rely on 365 days a year. It doesn't have to offer anything particularly revolutionary, but if it helps me create a flawless style in a minimum amount of time then it's a winner. Knowing that my hair is a tough nut to crack, here are my favourite products in the hair category from 2013...
Head & Shoulders 'Thick & Strong' (£4.99)
Although this didn't reach my radar until very recently, the fact that Head & Shoulders (a traditionally solution-based brand) have expanded into cosmetic hair products is worthy of a mention in my top picks. This budget buy helps to leave hair feeling and looking healthy, injecting life back into tired and limp locks. The conditioner is rich and has replaced products in my repertoire that are three times the price... Well worth a look!
Hair Styling - Dove Style+Care (£4.59)
I wasn't a huge fan of the previous Dove hair products, but with 'Style+Care' Dove brings the best of both worlds: effective ingredients and fabulous results. The hair serum is non-greasy and doesn't way hair down, providing effective frizz relief that lasts all day. The dry shampoo is super light and doesn't leave any telling residue in the hair, while the finishing cream helps to create a smooth and sleek finish. Considering that these are a snip at £4.59 each, this is a range that will keep your bank balance as happy as your hair.
Hair Innovation - John Frieda Flyaway Tamer (£10.99)
Sometimes the simplest ideas leave you the most excited. I've no idea how nobody has thought of this before, but this simple touch-up wand can act as a hair saviour in multiple situations. The tube of clear gel features a mascara wand to apply it to those pesky flyaways that mess up our otherwise sleek style. Although it has a tendency to go a bit crispy if you apply too much, when used sparingly it can tame even the most unruly of hairs into submission.
Shine Spray - Percy & Reed Eau My Goodness (£22.00)
I love a good shine spray; my hair isn't complete without a final spritz of something to reflect the light and make my looks look glossy. Percy & Reed's latest innovation combines the a light shine spray with a hair fragrance in a super cute bottle. Unlike most shine sprays which come in an aerosol format and therefore easy to waste, Eau My Goodness comes in a spritz bottle to ensure you get the most out of it. Shiny great smelling hair is totally on-trend for 2014!
Finishing Spray - SHOW Beauty (£30.00)
Hairspray can be a little too firm when you want to create texture and movement in a style. A great finishing spray can provide invisible hold, volume and texture in one spray - which is exactly what this finishing spray from SHOW Beauty does. The glitzy bottle hides a really effective product that makes hair styling a breeze; the dispensing nozzle ensures even distribution of product via a light mist, which prevents a heavy result. Although this is pricey, it's 100% worth it. I've never found a spray I love so much as this... And it smells amazing too.
