Oral B Trizone 5000 Electric Toothbrush

Brushing your teeth isn't very glamorous and it certainly isn't very exciting, but it is an essential part of your daily routine. I have to admit it's the part I dread most about getting ready or getting into bed, because I tend to half fall asleep during the process and end up getting covered in toothpaste. Oral B are well known as dentistry experts, but could they step up to the challenge of making brushing your teeth fun? Their new Trizone 5000 Electric Toothbrush aims to help you get your teeth exceptionally clean, thanks to their in-built sensors and handy Smart Guide. Not only does the toothbrush itself include a moving bristle tip to get deep between teeth and hard to reach areas, as well as helping to remove plaque and gently whiten, but it flashes red and stops vibrating when you're applying too much pressure. I didn't understand how aggressive I was being until I started using this, realising I needed to be a lot gentler on my teeth to get best results.

The wireless handy Smart Guide is also the perfect accompanyment for people not too wised up on teeth cleaning, or simply for kids that need a helping hand. As soon as you start using the toothbrush the Smart Guide starts counting up to two minutes (the optimum time for brushing, as recomended by dentists.) The circular dial on the screen also lights up section by section, so if you wish to tackle one area of the mouth at a time it visually shows you when to move on. If you're doing a good job you get a smiley face, but if you're not brushing effectively or putting too much pressure on teeth, you'll instantly get a grumpy face and a red light. Considering I'm 30 years old, this has given me a massive education on how long I need to be brushing for (luckily my estimations were pretty much spot on!) and the pressure I need to be applying. Occasionally I used to get bleeding gums, but now they're gone for good - simply because I'm not putting excessive pressure on them while brushing. There are five different modes to choose from, but the brush is exceptionally easy to use; it charges within a few hours and then will last up to ten days (based on optimum brushing time.)

The only downside is that this toothbrush will set you back a staggering £199.00! I'm not sure I know many people that would sack off their £2.49 Colgate number for something that costs nearly as much as their laptop. If you have a young family and can afford to invest in this as part of their dental health, the brush heads are easy to change to ensure the whole family gets use out of the product. The cute Smart Guide is definitely a selling point for me, but this seems to add a hefty premium onto the price - almost doubling it from other Oral B brushes without a Smart Guide. However, if you're quick the Triumph 5000 Electric Toothbrush is currently half price at £99.00 - which really is a bargain!(Almost...)

The Trizone 5000 Electric Toothbrush is available online and in Boots stores priced £199.00. Look out for offers or try the 'sister' product Triumph 5000 Electric Toothbrush which is currently half price at £99.00

  1. I'm looking into purchasing an electric toothbrush. This sounds lovely but wow, the price! It may be a good investment anyway though.

  2. I saved up all my Boots Advantage Points, waited until they had it for sale on half price and finally got it. It really is a worthwhile investment in your dental health.
