LBQ Budget Buys: Montagne Jeunesse 99p Face Masks

When blogs started up many moons ago, content was very much driven by beauty bargains, beauty gems and using products in unusual ways. Over the course of LBQ's history I've somewhat been pulled into the idea that it's ok to spend £20 on a lipbalm (if it genuinely adds benefit,) forgetting that for a heck of a lot of people that's a lot of money to spend frivolously. With my new series 'LBQ Budget Buys' I intend to bring things a little bit back to reality, featuring brands and products that are fab - but importantly, don't cost more than a fiver. First up on the list is the face mask brand Montagne Jeunesse who got me through many a teenage sleepover in the 90's. Although in the past their 99p face mask packs were filled with bright pink gooey messes that smelt like Willy Wonka's factory, they've progressed somewhat in 2013 to produce some interesting concoctions that contain ingredients such as honey, coconut, nut oil and super fruits.

Each sachet is more than enough for a thorough application, providing enough product to fully cover the face in a thick enough layer to really get to work. I remember from times gone by that these used to be sickly sweet and did nothing for teenage skin, but now they're actually attempting to address skin concerns and use beneficial ingredients. Although these don't include anywhere near the amount of active ingredient to actually make much of a difference, popping one on for 10 minutes in the bath can help you relax and feel totally pampered. I really like the Creamy Coconut mask, which aims to help hydration and boost tired skin; after a few minutes this did leave my skin feeling smoother and a little plumped, but the effect is somewhat temporary. These aren't intended to provide long-term benefit, or even really address serious skin concerns, but they are a good way to spend a quid and pamper yourself during a Friday Night In. What are your fave budget buys?

The Montagne Jeunesse face masks are available online via Feel Unique, as well as in Superdrug stores. Prices start at around 99p, but multi packs are also available.

  1. I agree with you - these don't necessarily give me amazing results, but they're a relaxing treat :)

  2. Im a big fan of ELF cosmetics, with products from as little as £1 you can find some suprisingly good products! The £1.50 eyelash curler is one of the best Ive tried.

  3. Thank you for this post - I definitely think we should all start looking for budget buys more often, as long as it's not a fake product off eBay of course!

I love this brand of face masks, there's always so much in the sachets. My favourite type of masks are the peel-off ones. I've never seen the Manuka Honey one before but I will definitely be buying one now!

  4. I love this brand! Who doesn't!? I just love face masks! Great post!
