Illamasqua Sacred Hour Collection

Illamasqua are never a brand to shy away from creating statement products that leave the beauty world gasping, but sometimes I rather wished they'd create something a bit more wearable for us boring neutrally-adorned folk. With their latest collection 'The Sacred Hour' they've managed to do just that, capturing the more neutral and wearable tones we've been begging for, whilst still remaining a little bit quirky and different. The collection consists of an eyeshadow palette, cream-to-powder blush, berry lipstick and two nail varnish colours, but the stand-out items for me have to be the Reflection eyeshadow palette and the Facet nail polish. Remaining true to their creative roots, the new collection celebrates the sacred hours of dawn and dusk, where the day turns into night (and back again.) With this new collection they've created two completely different makeup looks from the very same range of cosmetics, illustrating that it's not just about what's in your makeup bag - it's about how you wear it.

The eyeshadow quad contains four delicious shades that can, together, create any look - strong or subtle. Including a gold tinted beige, two metallic bronze colours and a dark pewter shade, the texture of the eyeshadows feels like a cream but applies so lightly that it actually feels invisible. These are truly buildable products that aren't scary at all, but leave a subtle shimmer and colour on the eyelid that can be blended with all other shades in the palette. I've honestly never felt an eyeshadow like this before, the texture being so unique I can't bring to words how it actually feels. It's so refreshing to see a brand actually responding to customer demand and producing something we've all been asking for. The other product that I love from the collection is a brown and gold nail varnish called Facet; including shimmering particles that catch the light to change the effect of the nail, the colour is truly unique and striking. Like all Illamasqua nail varnishes, the formula is thick without being gloopy and applies well to leave a smooth and perfectly finished nail. This may well be the colour of Autumn for me...

The Sacred Hour collection is available now in Selfridges, as well as nationwide from next week. More details can be found here.
