Avon Lip Crayon: A Chubby Stick Dupe?

Ever since the launch of Clinique's Chubby Stick, the beauty industry seems to have found a new product to copy and re-create. We've had Revlon, Bourjois and now Avon dipping their toes into the lip-in-a-stick format. With the launch of their new Lip Crayons, Avon are attempting to channel the trend while bringing their own twist to the product format - a more pigmented and vibrant shade, that provides a precise and long-lasting result.

Launching in August and available in six shades, the Lip Crayons are more like a lipstick than the traditional lipbalm-eque formula of the Chubby Stick. Each crayon provides an intense colour result that glides onto lips with ease and stays put for a pretty long time. Containing slightly shimmering pigments, the colours aren't for the feint-hearted - the shimmer also makes the formula feel slightly gritty on the lip, rather than super smooth and moisturising. As far as I can tell, there are no hydrating properties to these whatsoever, focusing predominantly on the colour result rather than any additional benefits. If you're a fan of lipsticks then you'll no doubt fall in lust with these, but they also provide a really easy application method for those of you a little scared to apply a chunky bullet. I would have liked to have felt more comfort on the lip, as well as a few lighter shades for daytime, but these are a good first try at a product that's caused more buzz than Superman.

The Lip Crayons are launching this August priced £7.50 each.

  1. Looks interesting- Im a big Avon fan. Ill have to order some x

  2. These look nice but I'm not sure about the amount of shimmer in them.....does it translate onto the lips? X

  3. There is a slight shimmer on the lips, but it kind of blends in so it's not OTT. It's definitely wearable and daytime appropriate!

  4. I love Avon, I will most definitely have to order some of these when I get chance, especially the orange and the nude shades

  5. Wow they look gorgeous, the colours are lovely. I used to love the Revlon lip butter pens, but as soon as I got a couple of the Bourjois ones, they are my new faves!

  6. Great post, I've had my eyes on these beauties for a while :3

Gonna order them to try myself.
