Michael Van Clarke Diamond Dry Cut

Michael Van Clarke is a luxurious salon set in the heart of Marylebone London, just a stone’s throw away from Marylebone high street and Oxford Street. Owned by renowned hairdresser Michael Van Clarke, I recently went along to try out their signature Diamond Dry Cut at the salon. The Diamond Dry Cut involves cutting hair dry rather than when wet to enable the stylist to see how the hair naturally moves and to adjust the cut accordingly. They state that two haircuts are never the same and that each one is tailored to the individual needs of the client and their hair. My stylist discussed with me the sort of style I was after as well as finding out how much time I spent on styling. I was keen to have a long bob with my fringe cut back in, and she agreed that this would be a nice style given the texture of my hair. Although they cut hair dry at the salon, you still get the usual shampoo and condition first, (plus an amazing head massage!) while hair is rough dried before the cut starts.

Because of the blunt nature of the style, my stylist chose to cut the outline of the bob while my hair was still wet, continuing with the rest of the cut once dry. It looked like there was a lot of hair coming off - having a fringe dry cut probably isn’t something I’d repeat in a hurry, purely because I ended up with a lot of tiny bits of hair all over my face. That said, my fringe was the perfect length and there was no need to worry it would bounce up when it dried. Once the cut was finished, my hair was dampened down again and given a bouncy blow dry. I left the salon really happy with my new do, swishing my hair all the way to the tube.  New clients are also offered a free blow dry appointment within 2 weeks of the initial cut to make sure that the style is working well, which is a very nice extra and great service to ensure all clients are confident in their hair style. I definitely enjoyed my visit and would happily go back to the salon again.

Cuts at the salon start at £49.50 for a graduate stylist, up to £275 for a cut with Michael himself.

    2. I think they are all fab in there - Michael trains them really well from the start even if they are stuck in their ways from other salons and I love the fact they are session stylists too - you feel a wee bit A list when you walk out!

Lovely salon, nice people and I'd be happy to spend my cash there to get the long lasting style - you know when you wash your hair the day after being in the salon and it actually looks the SAME as when it was done! lol

  2. Lovely stylish haircut I'm always scared having my fringe cut as I've had it way too short before and I hate the annoying bits of hair over my face to, is it your natural hair colour? X
