Tran-seasonal Jackets from Bank

With the cold nights drawing in, the mornings getting darker and a chilly snap in the air, gone are the days when we can get away with going to work with just a cardi and hope. We need to pack for every eventuality and right now my bag contains sunglasses, an umbrella, a scarf and even throat sweets to protect against the harsh morning croak. Shopping for that mid-season jacket is often the hardest purchase of the year, but right now there are some pretty stylish yet practical coats and jackets on offer at Bank this Autumn that will help keep the cold at bay. I always find it a challenge to keep warm, without over-heating on the tube or looking like a snowman, so lighter jackets are the perfect solution. With the military trend, rock and roll studding and stone-washed colours all over the high street, these are my picks of the women's jackets from Bank to keep you warm and stylish.

There's nothing better for walking the dog in the morning (or just walking through London pretending you've just walked the dog,) than a wax jacket. If you're not so urban, then a classic trench works for every outfit and can be worn practically all year long - just layer up with a snood for when it gets really chilly. Biker jackets are my best friend and get me from festival, to chilly summer night and right through to the pre-winter coat season; just add a leopard print scarf and some spikey bangles and you're sorted. Capes are always a really cool way to bring some individuality to your autumn look and they're still really on-trend for AW12; the fur hood on this cape from Stolen even makes it feel all cosy. Military jackets and over-sized shirts used to be only seen on soldiers and festival-goers, but now they're the perfect throw-on over jeans and dresses to take you into the next season. Finally, quilted jackets are warm, snuggly and stylish but often a little run-of-the-mill dull... This cream coloured one from Paul's Boutique is a bit more stylish, whilst still giving a nod to winter with its navy piping. So there you have six solutions to the tran-seasonal jacket dilemma. Which one will you be sporting this October?
