Urban Decay: Smoked palette

Urban Decay seem to continually bring out cult palettes that the beauty world goes crazy for. We had the Naked palette, Naked take two and now we have something a little more seasonal to enjoy. The 'Smoked' palette from Urban Decay is basically a darker, yet still a makeup staple, version of its Naked sister. The shades within the palette cover every kind of look you'd want to create, from a subtle brown smokey eye, to a stronger charcoal result and even a green or purple rockstar eye. As always, the eyeshadows are presented in a durable and cute pack that makes it easy to work from one pan. I love the fact this isn't a card box too, meaning the set is much more protected and you don't have to worry about it getting tatty. Not only does it contain 10 eyeshadows, but it also a black 24/7 liner and a sample size of the cult classic Primer Potion - everything needed to create a brilliant smoked eye that lasts all day (and all night.)

I adore the Urban Decay eyeshadows because they're so pigmented and blend beautifully, even without a base. They don't smudge or budge throughout the day, nor do they fade into a much paler shade after a few hours in the office. You can easily build up colour using a circular brush and blend outwards to create a stronger look into the evening. The great thing about all these eyeshadows is also that the colours really complement eachother - they must have very similar base shades or something, but you can easily mix a blue with a mushroom or even a green with a black. I can't sing the praises of these eyeshadows enough, especially as I got numerous complements at works when I used the palette to create subtle smokey 'daytime' eyes this week. The eyeliner really helps to bring the look together too, and the accompanying 'how to' book gives step-by-step instructions to help you step ourside the box and get creative with your eye makeup.

The set is £35.00, but I totally think it's a bargain. For that price you get 10 eyeshadows, an eyeliner, a sample of Primer Potion, a 'how to' guide and a pretty palette to carry it all in. Individually all these products would set you back at least £100, so by using that reasoning you really should go ahead and treat yourself! If you only buy one product this coming payday then make it an Urban Decay smoked palette - definitely my choice for taking us into Autumn/Winter.
