Don't Cover it Up

I've always been a big supporter of Refuge and the amazing work they do with women and children suffering from domestic violence. It's a huge problem across the globe and something that's hidden and covered up the majority of the time. Refuge have worked with blogger Lauren Luke to create this video, giving you tips on how to cover up the signs of an abusive partner. Although shocking, this is just the kind of thing we need to help women realise that it's not acceptable to just 'cover it up'... In more ways than one.

"Hiding the physical effects of domestic violence is just one of the ways a woman might try to cover up what her partner has done to her. She may also withdraw from seeing her family and friends and become isolated, afraid to tell anyone what she’s going through. The emotional and psychological effects of domestic violence are undetectable to the naked eye – but this type of abuse is equally, if not more, damaging. Lauren’s cuts, bruises and fear are fictitious. But for thousands of women this is the reality of their everyday lives."

  1. What a powerful video! I can't really describe how it made me feel, but it was strange watching something that is so normal to me (a make up tutorial) focused on such a terrible issue. It really highlighted what people suffering from domestic abuse go through. A perfect ad campaign I think!
