Swedish Skill

I'm loving everything Scandinavian at the moment because it just seems a little bit edgier and cooler than the London life. Sweden in particular is hot property right now, with their trends taking over our high street and Stockholm Fashion Week quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. To me, the style coming from that part of the European map is edgy, effortlessly cool and has real staying power - which is partly why I'm loving the latest brand to hit our shores: SachaJuan hair care.

The first SachaJuan salon opened in 1997 in Stockholm by Sacha Mitic and Juan Rosenlind, two highly recognized hairdressers with long experience of hair and fashion in Sweden and abroad. In addition to regular hands-on salon hairstyling their work has been seen in several international fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Glamour and GQ. The salon soon became one of Sweden's hottest hairdressing spots and the creation of their own, exclusive brand of hair care products was a natural step forward - in 2003 they launched their very own range of products and in 2011 they've launched them exclusively with British institution, Liberty's.

What makes the brand different is the 'ocean silk technology', where they extract valuable proteins and minerals from sea algae to make hair soft, smooth, manageable and nourished. I've been trying the Dry Hair Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment, all of which claim to repair and 'de-frizzle' your hair to leave it healthy and shiny. The shampoo lathers well to leave hair feeling clean and healthy, almost like a bit of a workout for hair. The conditioner works well to infuse moisture and leave hair relatively soft and healthy looking. The winning product for me though is the treatment, which after only a few minutes really penetrates the hair to lock in moisture and leave it feeling bouncy and conditioned. I've been using this on top of the conditioner three times a week and it really does help my dry, frizzy hair.

Although these products aren't miracle workers by any means, their more natural ingredients and technology work more long-term to help hair. I still have to work my straighteners to get hair styled how I like, but these products aren't claiming to be smoothing or straightening. My hair is shiny and style-able, and I like the fact that I know I'm using some good shizzle. If I compare these products to cheaper ones, they do feel nicer to use (and by feel I mean 'can't really put my finger on it, but it feels good!') and a smaller amount has higher impact. However, at £18 for a shampoo, £20 for a conditioner and £22 for a treatment, these babies don't come cheap. Although they are Swedish - so you're paying for the cool factor too.
