A year ago there was a rather special re-launch of an iconic British brand that went by the name of Biba. Exclusive to House of Fraser, it's come-back collection sold like hot cakes and I even treated myself to a purple metallic oversized clutch. One year on, Biba are launching something else rather special - namely their first beauty collection. The capsule collection is 'inspired by the original ethos of creating affordable pieces with a fashion forward style' and contains easy to wear shades as well as handy palettes.
Within the collection there are baked eyeshadows, a face palette, a nail varnish trio, luscious false eyelashes and this gorgeous lip palette. It contains five wearable shades of a soft and subtle lipstick which could also be mistaken for a tinted balm or very light gloss. The formula isn't greasy like a lot of lipsticks that come in palettes, but really comfortable and smooth. The lighter shades offer just a hint of colour, but the two darker give the result of a lipstick. All five shades are very wearable and suitable for any kind of skintone, especially as they're quite sheer. They look great on bare lips or over a lip stain for added 'oomph'.
The packaging of the whole range is as you would expect - black, gold, minimal, retro, beautiful. The palettes are really good quality, chunky and durable. At the moment the extent of the range is quite small, but considering the quality of the makeup, the fab packaging and the brand name behind it, the whole thing is an absolute bargain. The lip palette is £ 24, the eye palette £26, the nail varnish trio £21 and this beautiful-I-want-it-so-much-I-may-cry lipgloss ring is a bargaintastic £15! At these prices (and with a face like Daisy Lowe behind the brand) I'm sure they'll be snapped up in no time.
Available exclusively in House of Fraser from October 1st.
