Liz Earle: 1,2,3

This is probably the worst kept secret in beauty history, but iconic skincare brand Liz Earle is launching their very own 'colour' product - Sheer Skin Tint. I was lucky enough to be one of only a handful of bloggers invited down to the Liz Earle flagship store in Chelsea to meet Liz herself and test the product ahead of its release in September. Apparently a tinted moisturiser was one of the most requested products from customers, and after three years in development it's finally here. The tint is available in three shades (1, 2, 3 - light, medium and a bit-darker-than-medium!) which will cover around 90% of the UK's skintones.

The formula contains avocado to give the skin slip, a mineral SPF of 15 to protect the skin and is completely cruelty free - something that's exceptionally hard to claim in cosmetics products. The bottle itself is a navy blue tube with a slight shimmer; the colour has been patented as a 'Liz Earle marine blue,' giving us the strongest hint yet that there are more colour cosmetics to come in the future! The shade shimmers in the light and is inspired by the deep, dark sea around the Isle of Wight, so this new range is in keeping with the brand's identity.

The formula is quite thick and the coverage buildable, enabling you to either have a natural and dewy finish or a more concealed and healthy glow. It's long-lasting, staying put all day without caking or smudging - although I did feel I needed a bit of a top-up and powder after work to get my face looking tip top again. I'm not convinced on the fragrance though, as it doesn't have that usual Liz Earle scent which I love; it smells slightly artificial (ironic seeing as it's a natural product) when you first apply it, although this disappears after it dries. Liz has really thought this all through, as when you buy this online you'll be given three sachets to test the colour you've chosen is correct before you open the bottle. If not, you can return it free of charge in exchange for the shade of your choice. The aim of this is to help reduce landfill and wastage of product - such a great, but simple, idea.

All three shades are wearable throughout the year... I'm currently wearing number two, will change to number one in the winter and could even get away with number three post-holiday! You can mix them to create the perfect shade too, so there's something for everyone. (FYI I was complemented on my skin on Sunday being hungover and wearing nothing but this - it's a wonder product!) You need only a little pump of product to cover your whole face, so 40ml will last you for at least three months. The benefit of Liz Earle's skin expertise mixed with colour is something we've all been waiting for - and believe me, it was worth the wait.

Register for info on the launch here. Available nationwide from 8th September priced £21.00.
