In light of the horrific events that have unfolded in the last few days, this post seems even more necessary to write. Aveda are launching a new candle in time for Earth Month and aim to increase awareness of the need for clean water around the world. The limited-edition soy wax candle is made with 100% certified organic ingredients and contains lavender, lavvandin and clary sages to create a beautiful aroma.
"In its 12th year, Aveda created Earth Month in April 1999 to raise awareness and funds for critically important environmental issues around the world, and has since raised more than $18 million for organizations that directly affect environmental change, and $12 million for water-related causes alone over the past four years. During the month of April, Aveda’s 2011 Earth Month campaign will connect its network of hair and skin professionals and consumers in more than 30 countries around the globe seeking to raise $4 million for awareness and protection of clean water."
It retails at £16 with £12.80 going to Global Greengrants Fund (GGF), which is a huge proportion and rightly so. (Hello £79 limited edition gift set that is giving £1.50 to charity - yes, that actually popped up this week.) I love Aveda products and adore their philosophy... they're so focused on doing good in the world and raising money for charity, understanding that they're in an influential and precious position which can help those less fortunate than ourselves. Please, please pick one of these up from Aveda salons or online and do your little bit to help.
Available from 1st-30th April.
