I love the idea of face masks and that once a week you can really deep cleanse your skin ready for the days ahead. I don't have huge number that I really like, so I'm always look out for a new one which can help me out on 'Bath Tuesdays'. Decleor kindly sent me this Harmonie Calm 'comforting milky gel-cream mask' to try, but it wasn't what I was expecting at all. Instead of a traditional thick, clay texture that you leave on and wipe off, this is basically a leave-on treatment that you massage in. They say: "Decleor Harmonie Calm Comforting Milky Gel-Cream Mask restores hydration, soothes and prevents the release of inflammatory mediators whilst restoring the skins sensitive threshold. Strengthen your skin’s protective barrier and indulge yourself with recognised calming properties, helping to boost skin’s natural defences."
The tube itself is quite small (40ml) for your cash (£27.50), but because you brush it on with the built-in brush you don't need an awful lot - there's no need to slap it on like a normal mask because it won't 'layer'. The brush itself is smooth and high quality, made up of synthetic white bristles which move the product around well. It doesn't feel itchy or scratchy so you can cover your face in a light veil without a problem. You need to leave it for about ten minutes, massaging any remainder into your skin after for full effect.
The product pretty much all soaked in within ten minutes so there was hardly any massaging to be done. It did leave my skin feeling smooth, refreshed and in good condition without that tightness you often get from leave-on products. I liked the fact that it was clear so you can still open the door or walk around the house without scaring the cat - a definite bonus! The smell is neutral and the product completely inoffensive in every way. But this did leave me feeling like there was something missing, something that could have been better or 'wowed' me. It's a lovely product to use in the bath, but something you'd need to invest in as a self-indulgent treat!
