Dry Me Up, Scottie

As you well know by now (If you don't, why haven't you been paying attention?) I use a lot of Batiste. Half of it's laziness, half of it's necessity - I spend a lot of time in tents and fields. I also get great satisfaction from spraying the lovely white stuff (ahem) all over my barnet and feeling instantly refreshed. I'm never without at least three cans of the stuff, sometimes even a mini one thrown in for good measure.

I can remember when there was just one option - the original green can which I had to search high and low for, scanning the shelves of the old biddie chemists for my hidden treasure. Now you've got a bizzillion different choices; you're spoilt you lot. I was very excited when I saw the Batiste Nude in Look magazine ages ago and tried to track some down... something that was truly new and revolutionary in the range, therefore being an essential for a Batiste addict like me. I was sent some to try, along with a new Unisex variant, and have been dabbing my hair in white powder just for you. (Why does this post sound really dodgy?!)

The new Nude Batiste is 100% natural and fragrance-free, perfect for green goddesses who are into all things that are good for the environment and our bodies. Even the packaging is fully recyclable and features an easy-to-use nozzle applicator - obviously because aerosols are bad for the Ozone Layer and all that. The formula is basically like talc and gives exactly the same result as the regular Batiste, refreshing hair and soaking up any excess oil. I did find the nozzle hard to use as I didn't seem to get much product out - I ended up tipping some into my hand and working it in that way! This is basically exactly the same as any other dry shampoo in result, with no badness. The only thing that I missed was that fresh feeling you get from the aerosol when you spritz it onto your hair - the instant cooling sensation and the sense that you're adding volume. Personally I prefer the original, but that doesn't mean the new Nude Batiste isn't worth a gander!

The other new product that's just been launched is the new Batiste Fresh - a unisex variant which you can now share with your other half (if he so wishes, or you allow!) The fragrance is divine, a real green fresh smell with hints of citrus, meaning it's pretty enough for you but not too girlie for him. I really like this variant as it's subtle, but still wakes you up in the morning.

Audrina from The Hills has also just said she loves Batiste:
“I love Batiste Dry Shampoo because it smells amazing! When I’m on the go and need a little texture or volume, it works miracles! When I go to the beach I bring it with me too, especially if I have to go somewhere immediately following -it helps counteract sunscreen and oils.”
If it's good enough for her and her amazing hair, then it's good enough for us!

"I love Batiste!"

  1. Ooh, I hadn't heard of this - I don't think I'll be trying it though, the nozzle does look tricky and not a patch on the spray!
