My coffee table is usually covered in magazines as I attempt (and inevitably fail) to copy the celeb looks and re-create the fabulous beauty pages. There's nothing I love more than chillaxing with a fab magazine and a cuppa. InStyle isn't a magazine I usually buy, but this issue they have a free Body Shop lip and cheek stain worth £9.50 - when the magazine costs £3.60 it's hard to resist such a bargain, even if you're just buying it for the freebie. The gift came in two shades; a red Benetint-esque transparent hue and a bronze shimmer shade. As Benetint scares the bejesus out of me I opted for the subtler shade.
I'm always a bit wary of these kind of products (after I put a huge amount of Benetint on about 8yrs ago and ended up looking like a clown for three days) so I was intrigued as to how it would actually work on my skin. The texture was a lot more fluid than I imagined and basically looks like a traditional lip stain mixed in with a touch of bronzer. I put a few blobs on each cheek and blended it in at an angle, attempting to create a sculpted look. The formula was really easy to blend, so there were no clown cheeks in sight. It was easy to build up the result from a really light starting point up to a much more 'bronzed goddess' look, if that's your bag, without the need for a full-on make-up course.
Because of the red base you get a flushed result, with the added benefit of the bronze colour sitting on top and catching the light. This makes it seem really natural and professional in one swoop, all for the price of a magazine. It also cuts out the need for blusher and bronzer so you can reduce the amount of products you need, saving money and space in the already-busting make-up bag. To top it all off this also doubles up as a lip stain, so you can match your bronzed skin with your pout and achieve a perfect summer glow. Definitely the best freebie I've got in a long time!
